Man, today was non-stop. Actually it started last night, that new client of mine uses QuickBooks and their bookkeeper missed the fact that the 2002 version would stop working for payroll in April. So they called me in to fix the problem, basically buy the new version and get it installed. Since their payroll was Monday we had it shipped out overnight via UPS. Then the fun started, I accidentally had it shipped to my home instead of the clients office, so when UPS came to deliver it and there was nobody to sign for the package at home I had to wait until 5PM to drive almost an hour away to the distribution site to pickup the package though one of the worst storms of the season, I snagged a Doppler image of the weather when I got home, check it out:

What this meant is I couldn’t get it installed on Monday, and was left to install it early this morning. Because this is my usual day to be working for EDC 7am – 4pm I went in to the client at 6am (meaning I had to leave my house at 5, awake at 4:30 …). I got everything installed over there and the data migration process started, I wasn’t able to stay to see the migration process to its end, but I didn’t get any calls so I’m assuming it went alright.
Then when I got into EDC I was met with a new employee who needed to be setup with a computer and everything. Lucky for me I had a computer available, but its one that had been dying so I set it aside to be re-built when I got the chance. Getting the new guy settled in took me up to almost lunch (there were a few other meetings in between).
I spent the rest of the day working on coding our Project Management system, mostly working on getting it to build some PDF reports using FPDF and Gantt charts using JpGraph.
Now I am home, and taking a (hopefully) quick break for a bit before I get started on studying for a Calculus test that I have tomorrow.
<sigh> … I can’t wait for the end of the semester.
