Using a PDA as a Second Monitor Continued …

Yeah … so first off, I forgot to include a link back to the article about how to make your PDA a second (or third) monitor. So here it is:

http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2005/07/how_to_make_a_w_1.html

Unfortunatly I wasn’t able to make it work myself :-( . I didn’t spend a whole lot of time on it, but beyond getting the application installed I couldn’t get anything else to work. I did play with the second part of the tutorial though, and I found that I really like Konfabulator I setup the weather widget as a floating widget with no background and a slight level of opacity. Generally its out of the way (which supprises me), the ability to click on things behind the widget without worrying about clicking the widget itself (because its ‘floating’) helps a lot.

Anyway, thats my update for now I will try at it a little more and see what I come up with. I tried it with my newer PDA (Dell Axim X50v) so it may be some compatibility issue, I’ll break out the older Jornada 545 and see if that works any better.

On a side note, in searching the web for an image of the Jornada I found the replacement battery at a good price, I may buy it just to put the old pda back in working order … dont really have much use for it though.
