“The Holidays” are upon us, and frankly I’m not really feeling festive. I’ve been feeling quite alone since I left home; call it homesick if that pleases you (I’m sure it would my mom). But I’m sure at least part of it is spurred by this whole thing with Kerry or maybe it’s the other way ’round.

I’ll be going home Saturday morning though and staying there over the weekend to see my Dad’s side of the family for some Christmas cheer, and then on Sunday I’ll be over to the Hampton’s house for some celebrating with my closest friends. So if all that doesn’t help my mood…

Kerry’s Christmas present has had me down to; I couldn’t even bring myself to work on it last night even though I’m running out of time. I don’t think Kerry ever reads my blog, hardly anybody does, but just in case I won’t go into detail but after this weekend I’ll elaborate.

I’ve got a few people left on my gift list, including Chadd and both my parents. And some of the people I had crossed off my list I may have to go out and get more for because it would seem that 3 weeks is somehow not enough time to get something shipped .

Finals are done; I was happily surprised at how well I did with the Calculus final. I am honestly still concerned for my grade in that class, my promise to myself that I would do the homework this semester seems to have gone by the wayside again. It was the History final that didn’t go as well as I expected. It was an in-class writing thing. We were given 6 questions on Tuesday, and he would pick three the day of the final, we were to write on two. We get a notes sheet, but I spent so long working on Math that I didn’t even read the questions until my break between Math and History, so I barely had time to review the book on the subjects and the questions he picked I was pretty weak on. Hopefully my previous grades will buffer me on this. And the teacher seems to like my writing. He gave me an 85% on a paper that I honestly didn’t think was worth of the mark, but hey who can object to that. I did my Accounting final Tuesday evening, blazed though it without even studying, but was disappointed when my final grade was posted. Other than a few missing homework assignments (the bane of my academic life) I had nearly 100% on everything I did so I was fairly certain of an A. It turned out to be a ‘B’, which isn’t bad, just not expected.

I’m all moved into my new place now, even though there are still a lot of boxes in the garage. We got internet and cable TV on Monday, but I left the TiVo remote when I moved, so no TiVo yet. My computer is obviously setup in the new office; I’ll take pictures when I get a chance. My bedroom is awfully sparse now, nothing but the bed and a bookshelf of Die-Cast cars fill it with any substance. I used one of my packing boxes as a nightstand for now, and my lights that were mounted above my bed on the wall for reading before, are now just sitting on the window sill to provide the only lights in the room. Now that I’m in, I’ve thought of more things that I can use, but all too late for the Christmas list I fear. Things like floor lamps and end tables. The house doesn’t have overhead lighting except in the kitchen and living rooms (something I have trouble understanding in new homes) so I need to get more lighting for the other rooms. I could really use something other than a box for a nightstand. And a couple coffee tables would suit our living room nicely.

I started into reading the 4 book in “The Wheel of Time” series, “The Shadow Rising” my only complaint so far is that the first two chapters are nearly 100 pages long, and cover like 5 different people. It should have been a new chapter for each of the people, but I digress. I must say that I haven’t been wholly impressed with the endings in any of the previous books, although the books on whole have been excellent. One of my favorite series “The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant”, which a lot of people find to be a tedious read, had endings that left you feeling like you were really there and could smell the battles.

I should end now though, and get back to actually working, Happy Holidays to all.
