Ramblings and musings of a technology addict

End of an Era, Dawn of a Day

It saddens me greatly to write this. I was told yesterday that due to some financial trouble, this is my last week as an employee of Electrical Design Consultants. Its a somewhat unexpected end to almost 7 years of full, and part time employment in the only job I’ve ever had.

Charlie Linkhart hired me out of high school in 2001 with the intention of bringing me up as an electrical engineer but through a need internally, I ended up the IT manager. I’ve learned a lot through the years, about both electrical engineering and information technology in a business setting. I made some great friendships with my colleges, enjoyed the perks of good years, and the downs of bad days. All of it will be dearly missed. I’ve watched both Joanne, and Charlie move on to other things. Now its my time.

My new day. I plan on making every effort to jump-start Klaus Computer Consulting into a full-time business. Its scary, but I think I can do it. I’m working on getting the web page up now, something I’ve put off for to long. I’ve had the domain for probably 6 months. John (president of EDC) is helping me to pickup a large number of new clients now that I have the time available to service them. And I’ll still be stopping by EDC on contract to manage the computers.

Anyway, if you visit my blog often your probably one of the first to know. I’ve obviously talked to Kerry about it, and my roommates. But I have yet to tell my family. I also haven’t told any of my co-workers, a task that I am not looking forward to.

bummer dude, I am sorry to hear that. But like you said, this cold be the jump start you need to take your consulting service to new heights.

Ed was right, you never know when you can be “cuffed and stuffed”… don’t know if that helps…
