24″ of Juicy Goodness
[fa:p:a=blog-images,id=1104075923,j=l,s=s,l=p]I did it, about an hour ago I placed an order for a 24″ Dell Ultrasharp Monitor. Nick and Mike (my roomates) are going to be buying my two old 17″ screens to help offset the cost. So why did I go with a single screen over my beloved dual-screen system?
In a word, “World of Warcraft”. OK, so not really a single word, but a single title. I find myself doing less programming at home now and more gaming. I probably cycle though every 6-8 months on this subject though so expect me to change again soon, I’m just fickle like that.
The second thing that made me think I could handle the single monitor living is that the native resolution of this screen 1920×1200 is large enough that I could tile Dreamweaver and Firefox vertically and still have decent room for each application. We’ll see how that works out though.
I obviously don’t have my monitor yet, but I did a quick google search for some pictures, and I think this picture does a great job of demonstrating just how big a 24″ monitor is. The screen to the left is a 17″ monitor, likely the size you are looking at right now.

[...] Speaking of monitors, the 24″ of Juicy Goodness arrived yesterday. I was actually surprised to be able to run World of Warcraft at 1920×1200 with full detail at a decent frame rate (between 20 and 30fps). Again, as soon as I clean off my desk a bit I’ll post a picture. [...]
