An Interesting Revelation

Today we had a going away lunch for Joanne at work. I’ve known Joanne long before we worked together and I consider her more than just a co-worker, she is a friend. And although her leaving Electrical Design Consultants doesn’t mean I won’t see her often, her daily presence at work will be missed.

But that isn’t the main point of my post, not directly anyway. While we were at lunch Joanne pointed out to me that I am now 2nd in Seniority behind the Owners. Greg has seniority, and there isn’t a competition there. He has been with EDC for 14 years now. In June it will be 5 years for me, but even my 5 years holds its own against the 7 people below me, the closest more than a year shorter. EDC was, and has been my first and only real Job (discounting my own business as of late) and I feel blessed Charlie ever even offered me the job. I’ve even been asked by my boss, the owner of the small company, if I had interest in buying the company from him in the future. I still seem to carry the title of ‘Intern’ when I’m introduced to people even though my job function is totally different from how it started, and in my own opinion far from intern work. But I digress. I should head to bed.
