Donner Mine Camp

So like I said, I got to play with the new camera over the weekend up at Ed’s cabin in the snow. I’ll get to the pictures in a bit though.

I had to go help out a client Friday morning, but we (Ed, Mike and myself) were able to leave Shingle Springs around 10am to head up highway 80 towards Reno. As expected there was a pretty good blizzard going on during our drive up that started just north of Colfax and didn’t give up until Saturday morning. The drive up 80, and across 20 was simple enough, if a little snow due to the road conditions. Once we got to Zeibright Road though (which is dirt during the summer) we had a little more difficulty. Ed’s truck didn’t want to stay in the ruts and ended up drifting off into a bit of a hole and got stuck for over an hour. We eventually got it out and had a couple beers once we got to the cabin.

Friday night it dumped another 2 or 3 inches in top of us so we stuck in the cabin. Watched “Hunted”, not a bad movie. It was right up Ed’s ally since the main character has a pretty serious knife (Tom Brown Tracker).

Mike had to leave Saturday afternoon to take care of things at home, but Chris came up not even 30 miniutes later. We all did a little bit of fooling around with the Snow Cat since the power had gone out (came back just before it got dark, thanks PG&E).

Anyway, enough of what we did, mostly it was just a weekend up in the snow goofing off, now to the pictures! These pictures are some of my favorites from the 500 that I shot, if you want to see the rest (not all 500, just the good ones) go here:
