Leasons Learned (the hard way)
Friday was a beautiful day, first full day of sun in a very long time. I have Friday’s off from EDC, and spent the morning running around to some of my own clients but was done by noon. For the first time in my life (I’m almost 23 now) I actually paid for a haircut. For pretty much all my life my Mom has done a great job cutting my hair, but I wanted to try something new so I went to a pro. Kelli Purpura did a great job and I’m really happy with the new do, when I get a chance I’ll get a picture and link it here. I bought The Chronicles of Narnia and watched that Friday night. Tried to get Amy to come over, but she didn’t ever call me back :-(.
Saturday is when the shit started to hit the preverbal fan. I woke up with a terrible sore throat, stuffy nose and watery eyes. The previous days breeze had blown about the tree pollens that caused my usually nonexistent allergies to flare up, but I stuck it out and by midday I was feeling better so I helped Nick put Keith’s old exhaust, tires and wheels on his car. And here is the lesson learned, sometime while I was under the car something must have fallen in my eye. I found out yesterday that it cut my eyeball (luckily not the cornea) and got infected. Sunday was miserable, I couldn’t really use my eye, any thing that made my eye change focus caused me pain from the swelling and I spent most of the day laid out on the couch with my eyes closed and basically a cool towel over my eyes. Monday I came into work, but ended up going home at 7:30 and my Mom picked me up from home to go up and see the doctor. That’s when I found out I had cut my eye (pretty simple procedure, the put a UV reflective dye in your eye and hold a UV light over it so they can see where the dye pools). I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin (sip·row·flox·uh·sin) Eye drops, an antibiotic to kill the infection and today (tuesday) I’m doing much better. My eye is still red, and a little swollen, but I can actually look at the computer screen. So, long story short and lesson learned, wear eye protection, especially when working underneath something.
Speaking of monitors, the 24″ of Juicy Goodness arrived yesterday. I was actually surprised to be able to run World of Warcraft at 1920×1200 with full detail at a decent frame rate (between 20 and 30fps). Again, as soon as I clean off my desk a bit I’ll post a picture.

P.S. if anybody can tell me what the heck the triangle in the chemical structure for ciprofloxacin means I would really appreciate it. Also, as a side note the “Side Effects” of this anti-biotic include Eye discomfort, itching, redness, tearing, elelid crusting, feeling as if something is in your eye, blurred vision, a bad taste in your mouth and sensitivity to light. [...] I am slowing getting things done, I got my desk cleaned up and I had promised a picture of the new monitor so here it is. A sort of un-flattering picture but the lighting in our office sucks. [...]
