Spam

Bah, I’ve had changed my comment rules again because of spam. I had 10 spam comments yesterday alone. Generally the rules I have for comments now shouldn’t affect many of the real comments you guys leave me but I thought I would point out the current policy in case you wondered why some comments don’t show up right away, and some do.

If you have ANY links in your comment it won’t show up until I approve it. I still encourage you to provide links in comments if you have something to point out or show off, just know that it may take a few hours for me to get a chance to approve it. This particular rule should take care of 99% of all the spam, because spam without any links has no benefit to the spammer.

And secondly, I also enabled a word filter with words that I can’t imagine appearing on my site as part of a normal comment, but that appear in spam messages often. So if you use one of the words in the filter the comment will wait for my approval before showing up on the site.

I wish I didn’t have to do anything to slow down the commenting process; I love it when you guys leave me comments, but spam has crippled some of that freedom.
